script.
I had the need to create reflection maps from a
scene. This script saves lots of time doing this.
The end result is a perfect "Vertical Cross" render.
This is the interface. Nice and simple. Here's
what the controls do.
 |
CREATE VR CAMERAS
This is the first thing you need to do. It creates the VR
camera helper.
RENDER
This button does exactly what it advertises. It renders the images and
stitches them together for into the vertical cross render.
SIZE
This is the size of each of the images that make up the
vertical cross render. Set to 300, this would produce a final image that is
900 x 1200 |

THE HELPER OBJECT
This object can be moved anywhere in your scene. You can freely scale (uniform)
the object to fit it into your scene. This object has an arrow to indicate which
direction the cameras are facing, this is used to help you position your
cameras.
You will need to use panoramic transformations
function in HDRshop to convert the render into a spherical reflection map.
This
script has only been tested on MAX4. Due to a bug in max, this will not work
correctly with any plug-in renderer. This includes Brazil, Vray and FinalRender.
You can still use the script to set up the cameras, though, which does save a
small amount of time.
